The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vemana Institute of Technology has organised & hosted a webinar on "Automation and Industrial Internet of things" on June 10th 2020 at 11am. The key speaker for the webinar was Dr. Shanmukha Nagaraj, Dean Academics and Professor, RVCE. He stated that Automation and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is the network of physical objects or things embedded with mechanical, electronics, software, sensors and network connectivity, which enables these objects to collect and exchange data. In this webinar he enlightened for developing a system which will automatically monitor the industrial applications and generate alerts/alarms or take intelligent decisions using concept of IIoT. The main summary of this presentation is that we use IoT in industries with Artificial Intelligence to monitor and control the Industry.The students were assured that the near future is in the field of mechatronics and all mechanical students should update themselves with respect to current technology. Totally around 185 students and 25 faculties attended this webinar and were enlightened about Automation and Industrial IOT.

Mr. Srinivas gopal, Design Tech coordinator, GTTC, emphasized on the various skill development programmes, technical trainings offered by GTTC to technical students. The visit has also thrown light on training programmes such as rapid proto typing (3D printing), CAD-CAM, Automation mechatronics, Robotics, PLM, IOT, PLC and process instrumentation. Students were also enlightened on the importance of acquiring skills for the brighter career.
